Welcome Baby Sophia!

After much anticpation, My sister Heather's little baby Sophia Jessica Hanson is here! (like that middle name!!) she was delivered on Thursday December 10 and weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz. It was a rough delivery for Heather which ended in an emergency C-Section but both baby and Mom ended up good and Heather is getting back to normal. Sopie is absolutely beautiful and she has so much hair it looks like a wig! it is so cute!!!! Here is an adorable pic of Dyl and Sophie holding hands! I could die. I hope this is a sign of how much they will love each other in the future....It is so funny to see the two of them together. Dyl is all boy and sophie is so girly-So cute. He is already such a chunk! when we layed them side by side we just laughed at the disparity. We actually took them down to their onesies to see there cute little bodies and Dyl's thighs compared to sophies were so chubby! I am sure she will catch up, she is one of Heathers baby's and they always get some chub on their bones.Tried to take a close one so I could show of her beautiful face but she was a bit mad about the whole thing... she still manages to look adorable however.I am so excited to start this new baby chapter with my sis. We always wanted to have our little ones at the same time and the first round she was a bit ahead of me. Were so glad your here Soph!

Arlo's Big Night

Arlo had his adorable christmas program at his school Litle Learners. They did an absolutely amazing job and the kids were SO CUTE! this was a very big deal for Arlo because he is a shy little guy and does not like new situations.
For extra support I brought his cousin Hay Hay because she is the one person he will do anything for. Man was I glad she came. She was able to talk him into getting into his little outfit (black shirt & white pants) by telling him that ET would think it was really cool-
Smart thinkin Hay! Then She got him onstage by bribing him with some of her her bubble tape, and telling him she would play with him after. I sat on the edge of the stage to ease him in, and once his cute little buddy Isiah got him laughing I snuck awayThey did the most adorable songs. At one point he was a reindeer and a tree.... I think the pictures make it pretty clear how he felt about thisBut although the tree suit was not his idea of "cool" I still caught him doing some of the cute little actions in spite of himself
Again, not to pleased about the Antlers, but he kept them on the whole time and sang a word -or maybe two of Rudolph
After some absolutely adorable singing from the kiddies the show was over. Arlo did great. He stayed up there the whole time and by the end was giggling and having a great time with the other kids. His cousin Hay was there to congratulate him and give him some bubble tape as promised. His Grandma and Grandpa were both there to see his big debut!
Way to go Arlo we love you!

Dylan is 2 months!

Wow, so the time is flying with our little chubbers. Lost of new things happening. First the stats...

2 Months 11/23/09 -12.88 lbs (77%) and is 23 inches (52%) Head Cir 16.1( 74%)

2.5 Weeks 10/11/09- 9.69 lbs (68%) and was 21 inches (50%) Head Cir 15.4 (82%)

2 Days 09/25/09- 8.14 lbs (57%) 21.5 inches (he shrunk! -This was Dr. stats at the hospital it was 21 inches)

The Dr. Said he looks great just has a little bit rounder spot on one side of his head so lay him on his left (this is for me people sorry)

Dyl is just the cutest little guy around, besides Arlo that is. He has been so much fun. He has discovered his hands and loves to chew on them. He is focusing so well and follows us with his eyes around the room. His neck is getting really strong and he can hold his head up for periods of time. I still am holding hope out for a mellow one. He definately gets intense about certain things like food and being in his car seat when he doesn't want to, but he is such a sweet baby. He will chill with us sitting on the floor or in his bouncer for quite a while (20-30 min) before he gets fussy. he loves to interact and smile. He loves his brother. When ever Arlo is in the room Dyl just follows him around with his eyes and tries to talk. Arlo has been so cute with Dyl. He doesn't like to see him sad and will immediately try to calm him by getting his binky and talking to him. He is very protective of him. If other people come over and hold Dyl Arlo gets very concerned and says things like "Where are they taking Dylan, he needs to stay with us." He has started wanting to give him kisses at night and he likes to have him in the room with him when he's playing. We are happy for you Dyl.

Putting the Smack Down

Well, this week is going a bit better for me. I think I may be getting the hang of this, but It's definately a day by day, some times minute by minute thing. Arlo is doing much better. I always seem to have this realization as a mother when he starts getting really hard that I am just not disciplining effectively. Who knew this parenting thing would be such a challenge? I never wanted to be the psycho mom who is constantly stressed and in nag mode all of the time, but with a headstrong 3 year old and a new baby that is exactly who I have been the past month. I took a love and logic class with my best friend Bon when Arlo was just over a year and I loved it. I started applying what I was learning right away and I felt like I had some solutions to a lot of my problems. As time has gone on, I have slipped back into my old habits. I am a very reactive person. I wish I was the serene calm type but I never have been, and as a parent this is a huge problem. 3 year olds are all about control, and they will use any means they can figure out to get it. Especially when they are my smart and creative son...needless to say I have felt like by the end of the day all I have done with Arlo is engaged in one argument after the next. I find myself saying things 4-5 times before the behavior is stopped and things just keep escalating and escalating until mom becomes very short and exhausted. So I decided things need to change. I went back to do some refresher reading and have tried very hard this week to be more effective and positive with my discipline. I have even hung up signs around the house that say "Don't say, just DO" and "Don't react just ACT" this sounds ridiculous but I need something to remind me because I just aint gettin it. So far I am amazed and the difference. I have really really tried to not give Arlo and instruction more than once. If I have to say it again I have a consequence. An example is; The other day he spilled a bit of his shake and was whining that he wanted more. I calmy explained that he was not getting another one, but he kept it up. Instead of getting really irritated and trying to talk him out of wanting more, I just said if I heard another word about it the shake was gone. Of course he kept on with it, so I took the shake and chucked it in the garbage. He screamed the whole way home, but when he woke up from his nap he said; "I am not going to cry about my shake anymore that would be sad" and it was over. I found that after that incident if I gave him a warning once, he took it seriousely. Now we have still had lots of little incidents like this one, my Son is who he is, but the more I follow through with what I warn the less he fights me. This should seem obviouse! I don't know why I keep going back to one warning after another and wondering why Arlo keeps pushing things. HELLO--- mom needs to follow through, the first time! anyhoo hopefully I can keep this up and start feeling better about my parenting. I have a feeling this is going to be a constant struggle for me and something I am going to have to be VERY mindful about.

What's new and whats getting old

What's new: lots of cute new things Dyl is doing

What's getting old: My 3 year old's attitude and no sleep!

So life is crazy at the Dilley's. I am still trying to adjust to 2 little ones. I have had some pretty funny and not so funny days since Dylan's arrival. Arlo has been quite a challenge. He has actually been really cute about his new brother, but has been putting his Momma through it. It seems to be a combination of him being at the top of his 3 year old angst, which let me tell you, that has been a challenge; and having a new little person here. I have not been sleeping all that much seeing as Dylan is the hungriest little guy ever. I did have a miracle occur the other night and he slept until 5 am without waking up! It was like the best feeling in the world. Usually he wants to be fed like every 2 hours which is exhausting. I explained to Dyl that the only reason I am keeping up with his feeding schedule is because I love his chub! Clint and I have felt a bit like prisoners of war. We need to get out like you can't believe. We love our little guys so much but wow-they can take it out of you. Dyl has been doing lots of adorable new things. He seems to have discovered he has hands the past week or so and is mesmerized with them! he is sticking them in his mouth a lot and grabbing hair, shirts etc. He also seems to have found his voice and is trying real hard to talk (sometimes yell) at us. He is just making little ahh, agoo and other cute little noises all of the time. He giggled at Clint today and has been smiling like crazy. It is so fun to see his little personality develop. We ended up getting rid of Ginger. It was a hard decision, but in the end I felt like it was for the best. I have had a hard time adjusting since we got her a year ago. She was such a sweet girl but insanely hyper! it was so hard to handle, and she just wasn't getting what she needed. We found her a cute little family with another Boston terrier and they hit it off immediately. I think she will be really happy their. This post is short & sweet will update more later

Baby Dylan is a month!

Well cute little Dyl Dyl had his month birthday on Thursday. He has had one check up with the Dr. So far and the little chunk has already gained almost a full pound! So far we are just absolutely smitten with our little guy. Some observations about him so far...

He is a sinker-yep folks I finally got a chubber that loves nothing more than to sink his cute little body into the arms of his mommy and daddy-or anyone else who is holding him for that matter. Arlo was a propeller baby. From the day he was born he wanted to jump out of our arms and explore he was always flailing his cute little arms and trying to move his body. Dylan is a cuddly little guy. I love it!

He is a Grunter- Just like Arlo he seems to grunt an awful lot! he just has a lot of little grunts he seems to need to express. I think the poor little guy has more gas than he knows what to do with

He brings peace- I don't know what it is, but my little guy has the most peaceful little vibe. The minute he is in my arms, all of my worries seem to melt away. I am hoping he keeps this ability. We really could use some peace around here with our intense personalities!

He looks shocked most of the time-he has the most hilarious facial expressions when he is awake. He is very alert and he seems to have a shocked look on his face a lot. It cracks us up

He likes to talk to us-He is just a babbler. He seems to really want to have a chat with us.

He loves to be touched-If Dylan is upset you can bet if you just rub the little guys head or caress his cheek he calms right down. He loves the bath when I rub his chubby little body down with soap, and he loves getting his lotion on.

He loves to eat-This kid is hungry and loves nothing more than a good meal. I am lucky if I can get him to hold out for 2 hours in between feedings. And when he gets hungry watch out! he is mad; This is about the only thing he seems to get mad about.
It has been a lot of fun having you here Dyl. We are all very much in love.....

Pre-school Parade Extravaganza

On Thursday Arlo had a Halloween Parade and Party at Pre-School. It was the cutest thing ever! It was so wierd getting his little treat bags together to give to his class and going to watch his parade. He is just so grown up! His school and teachers did the best job putting everything together. First they had the parents go to the gym and then all of the kids walked through in a line so we could see all of there adorable costumes. Then the director made witches brew, with the kids help and each class got to take some back to drink (it was really rootbeer w/dry ice). Clint and I were cracking up because true to form, as with anything new Arlo was so skeptical of the whole thing at first....

Once he got back to his classroom he warmed up and had some fun with his buddies. First they got to have their snacks and then his teachers did a cute little game of pass the pumpkin, read some halloween stories and ended off with some spooky music that the kids all danced to-Arlo opted out of dancing of course but seemed pretty intersted in watching he others do it.
The kids all got super cute halloween bags stuffed with candy to take home. Arlo had a great day.

Happy Halloween

This year we did the traditional trick-or-treating events at my Sister's house and we had a great time! Arlo just loves his cousins so much and when you add candy and costumes to the mix I don't think you can find a happier kid in the world! He was origionally going to be Darth Vader, but when we got to the costume store to pick the costumes, he went for the storm trooper ensemble and never looked back. He has been so excited for the big day ever since. We always get to see Grandma Georgette, Amber , Flint and William as well as Ethan's best buddy Matt. It's a great little group and we have so much fun together. This year we were missing an important little presence in the group, Tiegelet. Arlo has asked about him a lot lately and I keep telling him that he is in Las Vegas visiting family. I am going to have to break it to him that his best little buddy has moved there permanantly. We miss you Nicole and Tiegue! This year my sis got little Dylan the cutest pea pod costume ever, but because he is such a chunk we had to cram his little body in to the pod, which he did not appreciate at all! before trick or treating with the cousins we headed out to Clint's parents to show the kids off.

It was a great Halloween.

Bath Time

Dylan had his first bath and it was a success! It was so fun to see his cute little expressions. I am having a great time with him in this new born stage. He is so sweet and innocent, and because I have done it before I find that I am able to really enjoy it instead of feeling nervous all of the time about what I am doing. Arlo even helped put some lotion on him.

WELCOME BABY DYLAN!

With much anticipation...and swelling of various body parts, baby Dylan is finally here! He was born on Tuesday September 22 at 5:10 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 14 oz and is beautiful! I couln't have had a smoother delivery, which was such a relief after what I went through with Arlo. Clint and I were both suprised that I didn't go early, since with Arlo I was 10 days early. I actually had to get induced to avoid my Dr. going out of town. I arrived at the hospital at 10:30 and was checked in to the birthing room by 11:00. For the first while I had to be on an antibiotic for testing positive for strep B. by 12:30 they put me on pitocin and at 2:00 the Dr. broke my water. At first I wasn't having any contractions so I just told the nurse I would let her know when I wanted an epidural. This was a mistake! I should have gotten the drugs right when my water was broken. within 5 minutes I went from little to no contractions, to major intense contractions. I endured these for only about 30 minutes thank goodness for epidurals! after that it was smooth sailing. By 5 I had a feeling I was ready to go. I could feel a lot of pressure and asked my nurse to check me. Good thing I did! I was fully efaced and dialated and ready to have a baby. My Dr. came in and I started pushing at 5:07. After 3 pushes (at 5:10) Dylan was here. It was unbelievable! I couldn't believe how easy it was. It was crazy that I was able to deliver such a big boy with no problems. both my Dr and I were shocked by his size. By my measurements he thought that Dylan would be about the same size as Arlo when he was born. I finally have a baby with some chub! he is so cute. He looks so much like Arlo did when he was born. Welcome to the family Dylan! we are so happy your here
