Back to Being Mom
Today was my first day back on the job! I have had people, mainly my sister practically living here the past month to help me take care of the boys and the house while I have been recovering from surgery. I have been so grateful for everyone. I really don't know what we would have done without them. Last week we started slowly having me with the boys for a few hours at a time and today I went it alone. I am very happy to report that it went great! I was a bit nervous about how I would handle chasing after Dyl with all of the restrictions I have on bending, picking up etc. I think there is going to be a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to not do more than I should, but the good news is we did great and I feel really good. No back pain, so that is a great sign. I have been doing lots of physical theraphy which I think has helped a lot.
I have realized a lot of things about the job as a homemaker since I have been down. first, I really, really love doing it. Sometimes I think it's easy to forget and get bogged down by the day to day realities of being a stay at home mom, but there is nothing in the world I would rather be doing than being here with my boys. Secondly, I really need to chill and stop being such a perfectionist. There is absolutely nothing harder for a person like me than to sit there and watch everyone do my job for me. I about went insane...but I had to let go, a lot. I could not expect things to be done the way I wanted them to be. Not with everything that was going on. When people were over helping, like my sister or Bonnie, they had their kids, my kids, me, and my house. There was just no way it was all going to happen! This was extremely hard for me. I realized that I am a very exacting person and sometimes have unrealistic expectations of myself. I think sitting in the midst of chaos and not being able to do a thing about it was exactly what I needed. I found out that I am not going to spontaniously combust if the house is a mess, Dyl is pouring out the contents of his bottle on the floor, and Arlo has lunch on his face... at dinner. Third, I want to remember how much the help and support of family and friends has meant to me, and I need to committ to pay it forward. I want to be the type of person that finds a way to help when people need it. and Forth, I love my Husband and boys so much! I cant believe how much Clint has stepped it up through this whole mess. He has always been a very helpful, hands on Dad but he has been cooking the meals, doing the laundry, listening to me cry and whine, scrubbing the toilet, helping me dress, shower, and giving me lots of pep talks. I am so thankful I have been able to gain a new perspective through this whole thing. I am so happy to be back doing what I love with the people I love.

Happy Birthday to my Best Big Boy!
Wow here we are again and another year has passed. You are already four. I feel like I blinked and it happened. It has been quite a year. Three was filled with a lot of ups and downs and in betweens. You really kept me on my toes this year. You were definately trying to figure your little three year old self out and through the process, put me through it at times. Your fire, drive, and intellegence are quite a lot to contend with little man! You have grown up so much and have turned into such a thoughtful, helpful and respectful boy. I couldnt feel more thankful that we have you. Some things that have developed in you this year;
You are a fierce protector and Mom's best ally. If you think that anyone, including Daddy is messing with me, you will jump in and let them have it. You are the same way with your little Brother Dyl and your best friends. Anyone who has you in their court will have a loyal friend who is true to the end.
You have turned into a very rational, logical little guy. as you have gotten closer to four, you have started to really try and take a step back, think things through, and look for your responsibility in things. You are starting to put yourself in other peoples shoes. You have realized your wrong doing on many occasions and came to Mom and Dad to make things right.
Your curiosity for new things is endless. This was something I talked about when you were three and you are still the same way. When you find something you want to know about, you have to find out every single detail about it. This year it has been Batman & Spiderman. Also any type of wild cat (jaguars, leopards etc) you still love to learn about Dinosaurs as well.
You are a great student. When I watch you in your preschool class I am so proud. You are very respectful to your teachers. You pay attention so well and always follow directions. You are very helpful to your friends and teachers.
You have a great imagination and can play by yourself for a long period of time. You also have great ideas about what to do when you are playing with your friends.
You learning empathy. You do not like to see those you love sad or in pain. Since mom has hurt her back you have been my best little buddy. It makes you so sad when I am sad or don't feel good and you are always quick to come give me a hug and ask me what you can do. You cant stand to see Dyl get hurt. When he got his shots at the Dr's, you cried with him. You are a thoughtful little guy. Sometimes I forget just how sensitive you are.
These are the new things I have seen in you this year. You are such a great little boy and Mom, Dad and Dyl love you so much. Happy Birthday buddy.

Happy Birthday Arlo
This post is really over due. My special little guy turned 4 August 18! People told me that it all goes so fast, and they werent kidding! I have no idea how my baby boy is already 4.
Per Dilley tradition, we woke Arlo up bright and early singing happy birthday to candlelight and his favorite bagel (asiago w/strawberry cream cheese) Then we headed upstairs for presents!
Later that day he had his cute little gymnastic class.

Then I took him and Dyl for a happy meal and to hang at the play land. Arlo was so cute with Dyl and helped him a lot on the slide.
For his birthday dinner Arlo requested Grilled Cheese sandwiches, cheetos, strawberries and Blue Gatorade to drink...the kid knows what he wants
He got to eat outside with his cousins Hailey and ET
Then we all sang Happy Birthday and had chocolate batman brownies with mint frosting.
I didnt get pics but Grandma Georgette, Aunt Heather, Uncle Eric, ET, Hay, Soph, Mom, Dad, and Dyl were all there to celebrate. Happy 4th buddy we love you!

Needing Positive Vibes....
A lot of good things have been happening here. I have been released to drive and I am learning how to pick baby's up and clean as a cripple (he he). Why is it then that I have been completely nuts this week? I have been trying and trying to figure out what in the world is going on with me and the thing I am realizing is my attitude is sucking. I should be thrilled, no extactic that things can slowly start getting back to normal around here but instead it seems like all I can focus on is the negative. What's not working instead of what is. What's done is done. I have had this happen to my back. I can't undue or change that so why not just think that I am going to heal and get totally back to normal? I just don't get it. I have been having so much anxiety and fear about what is going to happen with me down the road. (sure wish I wouldn't have done work comp for 2 years dealing with people who NEVER seem to heal from back surgery) I had my first Physical Theraphy appointment and I did great, but afterwards had a lot of pain. I am sure this is totally normal, but instead of keeping positive and not worrying about it I spent a good part of the night feeling like I am doomed to a life with a bad back and I will never be able to do normal activities or run again. I need to feel positive! Half of how well your body recovers after things like this is how you mentally feel about it. I have got to make a committment to stay positive and believe that I can and will get totally back to normal. I need to believe! The end
