Motherhood Realizations

As I have been stuck in the house for the past 5 days potty training Arlo, I have had some great insights;

Slowing down just feels good

Kid time ain't so bad

Star Wars guys are cool

Having a Single focus has been a relief

Not getting ready is fun sometimes

I am very sane in stillness (wow! who knew?)

I can play and not have a point

Baking is fun

My Child is insightful and funny

Arlo will laugh with me anytime, about anything

I feel Rested

I feel Lucky

I feel Grateful

Thank you Arlo. I am so glad we have had this week together!

Potty Training Day 2

Ok, so we started the potty training yesterday. Here is what I am finding so far

1. He has to be naked or he pee's in his underwear

2. He seems very apprehensive to pee in the potty. He will say "I have to pee" run to the potty and then it's like he has performance anxiety. It is obviouse he has to go really bad but especially his first time of the day, he just doesn't seem to go easily in the potty

3. We are making it at least 1/2 of the time to the potty at this point. Sometimes it's self motiviated-he notices and goes to the potty; other times it's mommy motivated. I notice and put him on the potty.

4. I am doing a lot of Staring and watching. Is this normal?

Other mommies; I need advice. Tips anything! Am I on the right track? I dont feel super discouraged at this point. He definately is aware and knows when he has to go. I am pretty sure he's ready and I am willing to have a few days of the naked pee fest but just want to make sure I am on the right track. TIPS PLEASE!!!!!

This 14 makes 14

As Clint and I were enjoying our Valentines day he reminded me that this Feb 14 is 14 years that we have celebrated Valentines day together. We started dating our senior year and we have been together on every valentines day since. We are old! I am one lucky girl to have such a sweet valentines boy. I decided that seeing as we have been together for 14 valentines days, I would like to pick 14 different memories with him that are my favorite

Memory #1
The night we "Hooked Up"
Clint threw a party. I came trying to act very casual because at this point the only proof that I had that he was interested is that he seemed to stare at me a lot at lunch. Well, we finally caught each others eye and just started talking... and talking... and talking. In fact we talked so much that before we knew it the sun was coming up.

Memory #2
Our First kiss
We had been hanging out quite a bit, It had been almost three weeks since we had become really good buddies. So one night we were sitting on my living room couch talking, when there was a pause in the conversation. I felt him move in and he did it! planted one on me. When it was over, I actually felt dizzy and had a hard time getting to my feet. about 6 months later I was helping him clean his room when I found a piece of paper that he had written on that said "Oct 14 9:03 p.m. our first kiss"

Memory #3
The Baby Picture
So I had a hard time with the trust issue in the beginning of our dating experience. One day we were in my basement looking through my baby and kid pics when Clint just came out and asked exactly how much I was into him. Apparently he had felt my apprehension and wondered why. I explained that All I needed was time; that after we had dated for a while I would be more sure of his feelings and I would be more open with my own. The next day he found the perfect way to prove his interest. He had stolen my new born picture out of my photo album and pinned it to his sweater. He wore it all day. And he got a lot of crap from his friends, but he didn't care. after that the rest was history for me. I was totally devoted

Memory #4
Him in his baseball uniform-that's all I have to say

Memory #5
Live and Wheezer
This was our first concert together. We went to the show and danced our selves into exhaustion. We made it up to the front where the mosh pit was crazy; I even crowd surfed and in the process lost my shoe. That didn't stop us though. Man was my foot sore the next day! Clint had picked up a leaf from the ground and kept it, later he wrote Jess & Clint Live & Weezer 1994. I still have that leaf.

Memory #6
Picking me up from Weber state with the Refreshments
It was a spring day, I hadn't seen Clint all week and he showed up to surprise me at school. With him he had this new "amazing" CD of the Refreshments, a band we had discovered when we had gone to a gin blossoms concert. We drove around the city of Ogden feeling on top of the world with our windows rolled down singing our lungs out

Memory #7
His proposal
It was amazing what can I say. He picked the perfect ring, rented a U-haul, took me on a crazy maize, and proposed with a song written just for me!

Memory #8
Stealing Toilet Paper, Donating plasma, And gassing Airplanes
This all took place in the space of 6 months in our the hell hole apartment in Ogden. Right after Clint finished school, he was good on his word and let me finish school up at Utah State. We had some major hurdles with this plan. There were no jobs in Logan and he had to work 3 jobs in Ogden, which was as close as we could get at the time. He was miserable. Here he had just graduated with an engineering degree and was working three minimum wage jobs to pay the bills and get me through school. He just did it, he sucked it up and sacrificed for me. After about 6 months of barely surviving, he got a job....As an engineer. Man we were on cloud 9. No more plasma donations, and we could buy our toilet paper from now on!

Memory #9
Fixing our first house
We bought a fixer upper in Magna as our first home. Immediately I was in love with it, but very overwhelmed by all the work. Clint just dove in head first; like he tends to do. We had no Idea what we were doing, but with the help of Clint's dad we had that house fixed up in no time. This was one of those times I really saw what Clint was made of. He has never been afraid of hard work and he just has a way of always figuring hard things out. He has always taken care of me.

Memory #10
Lehi Hell
When I got my first teaching job at Lehi High-The hardest thing I have ever done. The hours were crazy, the expectations were crazy. But he came every weekend, supported me, helped me paint sets. Hung out with the kids... was just "freakin cool" as the kids described him

Memory #11
Prego Crazy lady
I was not a happy pregnant person. I was sick, sick, sick. He was there to rub my head, fetch me food...odd food like watermelon, at odd times. He dealt with the mood swings, took my stupid prego classes without complaint

Memory #12
Arlo is born
And everything changes. He was amazing and we were amazed. Nothing like it, before or since. We were in love, smitten and still are

Memory #13
The aftermath
Can we say crazy lady just had a baby? that was me. I was pretty banged up and bed ridden for 2 weeks. I was an emotional basket case and having irrational fears about colic. Clint was the best dad and hubby in the world. He took care of everything. Made me waffles with bananas and peanut butter. Helped me bath. Was in love with Arlo and couldn't get enough time with him

Memory #14
Daddy Rocks!
Clint is and will forever be the best dad I have ever seen. His secret? Well he has an insane amount of patience and I think he secretly loves hanging out with a 2 year old. He has fun-a lot of fun and he is in love-I am in love with him!

I love you honey! here's to 14 years of awesome memories cant wait to make more!

Arlo's First Sleepover

My sis and I decided that it would be a great idea to swap kids this weekend so we could both go on Valentines dates with our hubby's. Friday Night we took Hay and ET. We decided it was about time for Arlo to experience his first sleepover and who better to do it with than His favorite cousins. It was definately a hit. All involved had a blast. The evening's festivities started out with Dinner at El'Rancho Grande with Clint's family. Arlo felt very cool because he got to sit with his cute cousin Erin on one side of him and Hailey on the other. The kids played and giggled all through dinner. Then we were off to my house where Arlo put on his favorite Bat Man PJ's and got a special treat of watching a movie with Hay. They picked a bugs life and there was a lot of giggling going on. Then ET came over and joined the fun. We layed a big foamy comfy bed out on the living room floor and the kids had a pillow fight. Which Arlo thought was the funnest thing he had ever done. Once the pillow fight and dancing

was over, they all layed down and listened to a book of Curious George on CD.

Finally it was lights out but this didn't stop the random comments which seemed to keep commin for the next half an hour. I left that part to Clint. He stayed out with the kids while I, who was very exhausted fell alseep. We awoke the next morning to Arlo talking in full voice. "Hey. You guys awake? Hailey, It's time to wake up!" needless to say we all begrudgingly woke up and headed into a morning of full activities. We made a big breakfast and had a great time. I think if Arlo had his way we would be having sleepovers every night. Here are some pics of the event.

The things he says....

So yesterday we were getting ready to go out to Grandma Dilley's for her birthday. I said Arlo "Sweetie I think you should be the one to give Grandma her present because it will make her very happy." Arlo replied
"No, I will give her her present and she will be sad because then she will be old"
