Crochet-Not my best Idea

Soooooo, I had this crazy idea to take a crochet class with two of my girlfriends a few months back. I did this for a few reasons. I have had a major urge to become more crafty, and I have always wanted to learn how to make a really good granny square-I know that sounds beyond hard up, but it's the truth. The first six week session didn't go to hot. Although I really enjoy the art of crochet I seem to have a bit of a hard time picking it up...basically you could count on me being the last person each time to catch on. But I ended up just loving the class and crochet. So when intermediate crochet came up I jumped at the chance! So far I am still pretty amazingly retarded. I can't help but get down on myself for my ineptness. I don't get why I seem to have such a hard time getting the concept. After class tonight I just feel like I suck. I am having a confidence crisis over crochet people! this was supposed to be fun, and it is. I love to do it and I love what I am learning but why do I have to be so freakin slow to catch on??? I am determined to stick with it however and hopefully I will be able to learn some cool stitches and all my pattern attempts wont go like this last project. Lets just say this. I was supposed to crochet a cozy-you know like a cup holder that goes around your pop cans etc. and instead I ended up with a very large doily. Hopefully I will be posting pictures of some beautiful crochet projects to come

Dylans 3 Months! ok...almost 4

Need to put some quick comments in on what Dyl has been up to this month.

The kid is huge! He is in 6-12 month clothing and fits it perfectly

He smiles more than I thought was possible and laughs at everything. He is such a happy baby and we are all in love with him. He laughs the most while watching arlo play. It is the absolute cutest thing.

He rolled over! yep folks on December 30 he officially figured out how to roll his fat little body all of the way over. We all were like "oh my gosh, Dyl rolled over hurry get a picture and Arlo ran over and said "here I'll hold him there" pic below

His intensity levels are rising-yep he is a Dilley. He has been so animated and excited about life! he likes to talk a lot at loud volumes and flail his fat little arms as though he has something very important to get out

He loves people to be in his face at all times. He is so friendly and loves to interact

He likes to clasp his hands a lot and put his fat fists into his mouth-pretty sure he's teething

He has discovered he has a tongue and is sticking it out most of the time. Also blowing lots of spit bubbles.

Well just wanted to get this stuff down before we forget what he did and when

Lets say goodbye to 2009 and my fat!

So it is time yet again to bring in a new year filled with hope and promise...yes time to make resolutions that I love setting but have a hard time committing to. I have decided that less is more this year, so I have limited myself to 2 resolutions.

LOSE WEIGHT-I put that in all caps because I feel that it adequately expresses the desperateness of my situation. It has all gone downhill since kids and keeps going that way. When I got prego with Arlo I kept 10 extra pounds on that should never have been there and now with Dylan I have 15 extra pounds on top of the 10 I really didnt like. What does this equal? yep 25 extra pounds-and if I am being really honest more like 30-35 extra pounds. Sooooooooo, I have already gotten serious. I have been watching what I have been eating since christmas and joined weight watchers a week ago. So far I have lost 7 lbs yay me! I am absolutely determined to make this resolution stick-So I am committing here on my blog to everyone in the world (I know so many people read this-he he) that I am going to drop all of this extra weight like a bad habit!

PARENT WELL-or try to! My kids and my job as a stay at home mom are my top priority. I am lucky to be in the position I am and I need to constantly strive to improve my parenting to raise the most responsible, loving and happy boys I can. Bon and I have decided to start our own Love and Logic discussion group so I can be mindful of what I am doing and remember what I am striving for.

Well that is all lets see how it goes

Christmas Party #3 & 4The Salisbury's and Poulsens

So my moms side of the family the Salisbury's throws a party every year as well. This one my Aunt April usually puts together. It's always good to catch up with everyone at this. We forgot our camera so we just have a few pics of Arlo from Clints phone
Then the poulsen christmas party is on My Dad's side. My Aunt Keri usually puts this together and It is so much fun! we always do a talent show for the kids on this side to and this year it was so cool to see how many talented musicians, piano players and gymnists we have. We always have yummy food and tons of chatting. I have a great time. This year it was a bit of a bummer because Arlo was sick so dad stayed with him and Dylan and I went. I barely got out the door in time and forgot my camera. So no pics... I will do better next year. We always love having our family parities this time of year it is a great time to get together and catch up on what everyone is up to

Christmas Party #2 The Dilley's

The second party of the season was with the Dilley side of the family. There are so many Dilley's that we have to hold it at the Lady of Lords catholic church gym. The Dilley's really know how to throw a party! It is always so much fun. I look forward to it every year.
Clint's Dad Narve comes from a huge family. He has got lots of brothers and sisters. They all take turns hosting the party as well and it always turns out amazing. This year was his brother Kenny's turn. Kenny and his wife Sue thought of everything...

First we had a pinata for the kids-This happens annually
This is Arlo on his turn
Then the kids put on a play re-inacting the birth of Jesus-Cutest thing ever!
Then Santa comes to visit Arlo patiently awaiting his turn with santa
Then the kids go fishin for a prize-didnt get a very good pic but there is a fishing pole that they throw over a wall and it comes back with a little prize on it

Christmas Party #1-The Richards

Every year between my family and Clint's we have a slew of Christmas party's to attend. The Richards Christmas party was the first one this year. This is Clint's moms side of the family. I think it is so great that all of the sisters and brothers go to so much work to make it happen. This year it was Charlene's turn and she did a great job. Some of the Highlights of the evening were....
Charlene Reading "Twas the night before christmas in Utah"
The Talent Show
Both the young ones and the older ones were involved with the talent show. Clint and will played one of his songs together and sounded great. Will is getting really good at the base. Cute little Arlo even went up on stage with his guitar to help them. I will post a video clip soon. Then Clint played and sang a 2nd song by the Paul Westerberg and dedicated it to me which was so unexpected and sweet. I had been having a really rough day that day and feeling very fat which I will have to go into later...anyhoo I have a cute and thoughtful hubby. Here are some other Talent show participants;

Uncle Kent playing Piano Sierra Playing Piano Cousins singing songs
Grandma Richards reading a letter written from the late Grandpa Richards when he was in the navy.
Arlo having an absolute blast playing with cousin Erin
Cute babies....
Cool Will who is 6'3" now-crazy!!! and he has awesome hair
